Part Time Course | March-April 2014

Classes will take place on Wednesday afternoons, held over 6 weeks.

This course is intended for beginners who have little or no experience in Interior design with limited time to spare.
Classes to run over six weeks will take place on Wednesday afternoons. If you have any questions on any of the sessions shown, contact me here. There is a small Design project for a lounge within the course. Or student can bring their own room plan with measurements shown of their own lounge to work on for their project.
Classes are supported with handouts at each session, to extend your learning.
One afternoon per week held over six weeks

Please note personal study time is 2 hours per week.

 
 

This course helps you to get the best out of your home and also develop your creativity at a steady pace. It journeys through the Looking glass of designers, with a cultural twist.

The relaxed atmosphere due to an informal learning style with like minded individuals makes this one of our most successful courses.

 

Part One

Part one consists of three sessions.
Classes are mainly hands on and have work-sheets supplied-tea and coffee is provided.

Session One

Wednesday 19th March
2 hours from 1.30-3.30 pm

How to begin the design process.
How to think more laterally to develop professional flair within your home.
Where best to get inspiration to start your project.
Exploring design style categories in modern day design.

Session Two

Wednesday 26th March
2 hours from 1.30-3.30 pm

Colour Study, Applying colour theory in bedrooms and lounges schemes.
Understanding what colours to use when and where.
Understanding and using a colour wheel.

Session Three

Wednesday 2nd April
2 hours from 1.30-3.30 pm

What is a mood board? Well it’s an inspiration board to help anchor your ideas for your design but not entirely the final design solution.
We will explain how to make a mood board for a lounge. How to present the ideas, for your personal log to establish your visual goal.

Part Two

Part two consists of three sessions.
Classes are mainly hands on and have work-sheets supplied-tea and coffee is provided.

Session Four

Wednesday 9th April
2 hours from 1.30-3.30 pm

Learning how to use a scale ruler. Drawing a room plan at scale of 1; 50 for a lounge.
Understanding balance and harmony in concepts.

Session Five

Wednesday 23rd April
2 hours from 1.30-3.30 pm

Learning the significance of space and proportion, through experimentation.
How to add furniture on a floor plan and techniques for successful room layouts.

Session Six - Museum Visit

Wednesday 30th April
2 hours from 1.30-3.30 pm

The course also offers a Museum visit for knowledge of Georgian interiors, where we travel into central London as a group where Design History art and architecture all merge!
